Recroot Africa and Yebi Health Fellowship Program
What is “The Fellowship” all about?
Recroot Africa & Yebi Health Fellowship Program is a unique initiative designed to bridge the gap between academia and industry, by providing university students with an opportunity to apply their skills into real projects being handled under Recroot Africa and Yebi Health, either while they’re in school or during their field training. We’re joining hands with specific universities and departments, in order to enable this as part of moving the needle further on changing how impactful fellowships can truly be with real employer-based applications and modules.
Currently, the fellowship program is open to undergraduate and postgraduate students enrolled in accredited universities across East Africa. All fellows will have a week of in-person, intensive training to lay a foundational understanding of the companies and of basic technical concepts. We believe that the core skills can cut across any industry, however, it’s all about the mindset. Therefore, we’re looking for fellows who’re looking to be learners, curious, and willing to ask the tough questions with creativity in mind! As a fellow, you will have the chance to gain hands-on experience in your field of interest, honing your skills and expanding your knowledge under the guidance of seasoned professionals.
The Fellowship is expected to be structured as below:
1. The first two months will be to a dedicated project under one of the departments listed below for the final fellows.
2. Based on the performance for the project and an understanding of your abilities, an extension of 4 months will be provided. The structure may vary, however, a two month initial dedication is expected before any flexibility begins.
3. Performance in the 6 months period may lead to paid employment or internship opportunity.
While the fellowship is unpaid in the start, the benefits you'll reap in terms of personal and professional growth are immeasurable. If there are any exceptions that need to be made that can help support your participation in this fellowship from a compensation perspective, you can also indicate this in the application form and during our interviews. Do not hesitate in applying in the first place.
