Gentamicin eye and ear drops are used for the treatment of surface-level infections in the eyes and ears caused by bacteria susceptible to gentamicin. They are also employed as a preventive measure against infections resulting from eye or ear trauma. In the case of eye infections, the recommended dosage involves applying 1 or 2 drops into the affected eye, potentially up to six times daily, or as needed more frequently. In instances of severe infections, the initial frequency could be every fifteen to twenty minutes, with a gradual reduction as the infection is brought under control. For ear infections, the affected area should be cleaned before instilling 2 to 3 drops into the ear three to four times a day, including at night, or more often if necessary.
